Welcome to the
Musée du Compagnonnage
Run by the city of Tours but officially recognised of national significance, the musée du Compagnonnage is housed in the ancient abbey of St Julien. It displays an outstanding collection of masterpieces, tools, drafts related to handcrafts and also items specific to the Compagnonnage : canes, gourds, insignias, souvenir pictures, archives, all illustrating the traditions and works of the compagnons du Tour de France.
Live presentations, exhibitions and visits around specific themes plus activities for children are regularly organised and make it a lively venue. The collections, particularly the contemporary works, are often renewed.
Compagnonnage is registered by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2010.
